Christ's Hospital - Practical Science Day
Today, four of our Year 5 children attended the ‘Solving Crime with Science’ event at Christ’s Hospital.Â
They had an important mission: to discover who stole Dr Medley’s doughnut!
Using real forensic techniques including comparing evidence such as hair and fibre samples under microscopes, using Bunsen burners to observe chemical reactions to identify compounds, developing & analysing fingerprints and sampling chromatography techniques, they worked in teams to crack the case and bring the culprit to justice.
In addition, the children got to watch the CH band parade, enjoyed a lovely lunch in the dining hall and received their own doughnut at the end of the day for solving the case!
They all had a wonderful day and represented St Mary’s beautifully with their respectful and engaging behaviour.
